Kracie Popin'Cookin' - Sushi Kit

Hello everyone! Wow.. Can you believe it's already August? And our last post was back in July. We've been pretty busy lately but we finally found time to get together to make more interesting sweets. Without further ado, here is our sushi candy!

The box :)
The packaging of the ingredients
The ingredients
Making the rice
"Rice" - ramune flavored
Onto the toppings (grape flavored)
...More toppings (grape flavored)

Tamago (yellow), Salmon (red) and "rice"
Making some "magic" water :)
...And the "magic" ingredient
THE FUN PART! - IKURA MAKING (salmon roe)
Drop the orange liquid into the water solution and it forms balls! How neat is that?
Stretching the grape flavored gummy to make seaweed wrap for the sushi.
The width and length can be found on the pakaging.
Now that everything has been made, lets make some sushi!
Ikura (salmon roes) also grape flavored
The soy sauce
After splitting the rice and adding the toppings...
Tada!
 The Verdict:

Rice:
When we began mixing the powder with water, it smelled like ramune, a popular Japanese soda.  At first glance, the texture seemed very realistic, very rice-like. However, upon tasting it, the texture of the candy rice was wet and squishy and almost unpleasant; at least it still tasted of ramune.

Toppings: Tamago and Salmon
Somehow, we think we added a bit too much water and as a result, our tamago and salmon jelly turned out really watery. The grape flavor was also quite diluted. As for texture, imagine a mushy, grainy jelly.

Ikura (salmon roes):
Making these eggs was definitely the most fun part of this kit. In addition, we found them to be the most delicious (and edible) out of everything in the kit. The texture is very similar to the real salmon roe and bursts when chewed.

Seaweed:
The gummy for the seaweed was a bit dry and easily broke if over-stretched. It tasted of grape and the texture was like chewing bubble gum.

Overall:
The sushi kit is super easy and fun to make!

At least they look delicious :)
いただきます!!!!

A sneakpeak of the interior

The elegant chandelier... Haha, yes, I have to take a pic of that

The tea set for our selected menu

Wish's tea set - Honey Scented Tea

Bird-shaped tea filter =) (the filter was suppose to rest on the rim of the teacup and then you pour the tea into the cup...but that never occurred to us /derp)

Montblanc - Chestnut Sweet

Our tier of cute snacks! =)

Bottom Tier (Savories)
Handmade Jam
Prosciutto Croissant
Wild Mushroom Quiche
Cucumber Dill Finger Sandwich
Plain Scone

Top Tier (Sweets):
Macarons: Rose and Strawberry
Pâte de Fruit (Apricot)
Lemon Delight
Für Elise

Chef's Choice - Sachertorte

The mini display on the first floor. (The second floor is a tea room and the first floor has a bakery)

 The verdict:
Afternoon Tea at Für Elise Patisserie is definitely worth checking out. The decor is very feminine and elegant, with a European flair, and would be a great place to relax with the girls. The savories were delicious, although slightly large for finger-sandwiches, and the sweets were well executed. Cera, the self-claimed "Afternoon-Tea Addict" was disappointed that Devonshire cream was not provided, although the waitresses kindly found some for her. Also, the macrons were well made: fluffy and sweet with no air pockets.

Kracie Happy Kitchen - Donut Kit

Hi everyone!
So for our first project, we'll be making the Kracie Happy Kitchen - Donut kit. From the packaging, the end result looks super cute! Let's see how ours turns out =)

Super cute donuts on box!

The tray and the magic ingredients

Vanilla dough and mixing tray

Fill water up to the line, and add the powder

Vanilla dough

...after a lot of mixing...

Chocolate time =)

=)

Dividing the dough into 5 pieces each

Dough in molds

HOW CUTE IS THAT?!

Time for the frosting, strawberry first

...and the vanilla and chocolate frostings
かわいい!!!! <3

The Verdict:

Dough:
The vanilla flavored dough smelled great when we began mixing it, but had a very light, almost non-existant vanilla taste. It was also somewhat wet and squishy. The chocolate flavored dough tasted more like chocolate and the taste was not as diluted as the vanilla.

Frosting:
Strawberry - The strawberry frosting smelled and tasted like Strawberry Pocky
Chocolate - The chocolate frosting's texture and consistency is similar to that of chocolate syrup. Wish thought that it tasted like Nutella. It was also considerably less thick than the strawberry and vanilla frosting.
Vanilla - Smelled like vanilla and tasted like icing sugar.

Overall:
So cuteeee
