Kracie - Panda Cookie

How cute is this? We've been looking for this for ages and luckily, Wish was able to find it when she visited Japan!

Apparently different kits come with different panda expressions!
Mini spoon!

Making the chocolate~
SMELLS LIKE NUTELLA!
Into the bag it goes~~~
First we make the panda face and ears~
The rest of the face....

Slap the vanilla part on and pat it smooth and into the microwave it goes!
Panda cake! Although it looks like a bao bao instead...
The Verdict:
It smelled great! It was soft and moist but sadly, tasted somewhat bland. We should have tried to even out the white dough more because the dough actually rose to create a dome shape rather than a nice, flat cake. Our final result also turned out a bit creepy looking, but was fun and easy to make nonetheless.

Kracie Happy Kitchen - Cake Kit

Mini cake! How cute is that! This kit has two molds - the traditional circle cake or flower shaped cake. We were lucky to get the flower cake mold!

The box

Heehee.. This looks a bit like a packet of wet tissue...
FLOWER SHAPED MOLDS!
The batter~
After 30 seconds in the microwave and it turned into a foam consistency! Very cute.
Making the vanilla frosting...
And the strawberry frosting...
Making the strawberry jelly...
Awwwwww ♥! However, this took a while to solidify :(
TADA!

The Verdict:
Straight out of the microwave, this really did smell like cake! This kit was one of our favorites because decorating the cake was a bit challenging (taking the cake out of the mold) but fun at the same time, plus the final result was pretty adorable. The jelly accents are super cute! :)

In terms of taste,  much like all the other  Popin'Cookin kits, the icing was not very strongly flavored. Texture wise, after a few minutes, the jelly and icing made the cake mushy and distasteful. So if you're going to eat the cake, eat it quickly!

Kracie Popin'Cookin' - Bento Kit

When we first saw this kit on one of the youtube channels we frequent, we knew right away we NEEDED to try this kit.  Who doesn't like panda onigiri - in candy form nonetheless!

The box

The inside. The packaging includes a mini bento box drawing.
Where the magic is!
Making the rice
Then, the jelly broccoli...
After that, starting on the jelly octopus...
.. the tamago roll....
Making chicken karaage.

The face for the panda onigiri.
Squeezing out the "pasta"
Completed Bento. Sadly, we didn't have any cute bento boxes at the time.
The Verdict:
This has been the most difficult Popin'Cookin' kit so far, but was also tons of fun to make. The bento contains 2 onigiri (original triangle shape, and a panda onigiri), tako sausage, brocolli, chicken karaage and pasta. Sadly, once the panda ears are coated with the black powder, they no longer stick well to the panda head. =(

How did it taste?
The rice as always is ramune flavoured and the rest of the jellies were grape flavoured. However, like all Popin'Cookin candies, the texture was cold, wet and mushy, thereby making it quite unpleasant to eat. (Wish: "it is inedible.... ")

Do we recommend it?
For approximately $5 , Popin'Cookin is always quite fun to make, especially with kids. Don't expect much in terms of taste, but putting together all the different components of the bento was definitely amusing!

Kracie's Popin'Cookin' - Curry Set DIY

Kracie is known for making DIY candy kits, but a savory, mini curry kit? Would it actually taste like curry? Of course we simply had to try this one out!
This kit came in plastic packing, rather than the usual cardboard box.

Making the rice.
Rice
Next, we start on the croquettes

squish squish squish!
Rolling the croquette in the crunchy coating

We just made normal shaped croquettes.. Did not bother making the heart and star shaped croquettes as shown on the box.

And lastly, the curry.

Curry! There are even little veggie bits. It smells like curry too!
The final result doesn't look bad at all!
The verdict:
This candy kit was so interesting! Since all the previous Popin'Cookin' candies had a grape flavor, we were dreading the thought of savory curry over grape flavored rice. However, the rice was not sweet! It did not have much flavor (like real rice) and actually worked quite well with the curry. The curry itself was savory and actually tasted like curry... cold curry. We thought that the croquettes had a mild potato flavor. In terms of texture, the croquettes were soft with a crunchy crust. Surprisingly, this kit did not taste half bad. If you're daring, give this kit a go! Wish and cera hope to be able to find other savory Kracie kits, especially the ramen set!

Meiji Takoyaki Yasan たこやきやさん Gummy Candy Kit

This Takoyaki DIY candy kit isn't from Kracie's but another candy company called "Meiji". Cera and Wish already love their chocolate, but a DIY candy kit ? We REALLY needed to try it out.

The package. This kit did not come packaged in a cardboard box so we were scared that
the mold is going to be squished.
The least amount of stuff that we have seen so far!
First, make the takoyaki "batter"
Pour the "batter" into the molds and add the pre-made "tako" shaped gummy in.
..Add more batter, then flip the candies and let set...
..And you voila, you get takoyaki! We also garnished with sprinkles and the pre-packaged "sauce"

Verdict
Wish and Cera enjoyed this quick kit as it was the easiest kit by far that we've ever made. The "batter" does solidify pretty quickly so you need to work quickly in order to form nice circular balls. Taste wise, this was the best tasting candy kit so far (considerably better than kracie candies)! Pretty chewy and sweet, just like a gummy candy should be!
